Composer and Conductor Opportunities

THE GONDWANA YOUNG COMPOSER AWARD

Fantastic cash prize!

 

Australian composers aged from 14 – 25 are invited to submit a short work for one of the National Choral School choirs (Gondwana Chorale – SATB, Gondwana Voices, Gondwana Singers and Junior Gondwana – SSAA). The winner will receive a cash prize and the winning entry will be performed at the National Choral School concert at Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

 

Guidelines: 3 – 5 minute work (or several shorter pieces) for SATB (Gondwana Chorale), or treble voice choirs (Gondwana Voices, Gondwana Singers or Junior Gondwana). The work could be a cappella or accompanied by piano. The work should have been written in the last 12 months and should not previously have been performed.

Prize: $1,000

GONDWANA CONDUCTOR INTERNSHIP

 

An amazing conductor training opportunity!

 

Aspiring conductors aged 18 – 25 will have the opportunity to work with some of Australia’s finest choral conductors at National Choral School in 2010. This exciting initiative includes the opportunity to assist the conductors with sectional rehearsals and to conduct the choirs where appropriate. Participants will be given special classes by the conductors of National Choral School. Successful participants may be offered further opportunities during the year. In 2010 Please note: Conductor Interns will not be able to participate in National Choral School as choristers.

 

Dates: 10 – 24 January 2010

Venue: The Women’s College, Sydney, NSW

NATIONAL CHORAL SCHOOL REHEARSAL OBSERVATION

 

New in 2010 – by popular demand!

 

In 2010 the Gondwana National Choral School will throw open its doors for interested music students and music professionals. This will be an ideal way to see Australia’s finest young singers working with some of Australia’s foremost conductors.

 

Dates: Specified days during National Choral School, 10 – 23 January 2010
